Spring, by hand

2012, HD video, 24 minutes, silent.

I often spend time looking out the kitchen window, watching the weather and the light in the garden. "Spring, by hand" captures this view in a sequence of shots edited in-camera, each carefully timed but with improvised camera movement and framing. It is, in part, an attempt to draw a direct visual analogy to improvised music techniques for organizing and developing material over time.
